Stellar Evolution

START DATE:  20th October 2026 DURATION: 6 Weeks (Tuesday evenings 19:00 – 21:00).

This course will be run in 2 blocks. First three weeks Oct 20th, 27th and Nov 3rd. The second block of three weeks Dec 1st, 8th, 15th.

PRICE: FREE for members, £30 non-members.

COURSE DETAILS:

This six-week online course will examine our current knowledge of stars, their structure and evolution and the endpoints that lead to their deaths in varied ways:

1. The Message in Starlight

2. The Working Sun

3. The Formation of Stars

4. The Main Sequence

5. Life of Stars beyond the MS

6. Superstars & Supernovae 

The course will consist of lectures via zoom followed by Q and A. Where possible, handouts will be provided that will augment the materials delivered throughout the course. Members of BAS can enjoy the course for free, non-members will be required to pay a fee of £30 or join the society for a discounted price of £20 and enjoy the course for free.
